The five-day Hyderabad Design Week, which aims at demonstrating the power of design in improving lives, was held in various parts of the city. In tandem with the Hyderabad Design Week, the 31st edition of the World Design Assembly took place for the first time in the country on 11th and 12th of October.
The city-wide event brought designers from across the country that soaked up knowledge, networked and shared ideas while some of the best-known designers landed in the city for the vibrant week. Mr. Tim Kobe, who designed the iconic Apple Store, was a key speaker. Designers including some urban design planners and thinkers shared their ideas and success stories.
Mr. K T Rama Rao, IT & Industries Minister, Government of Telangana addressed the gathering and mentioned that the Telangana government is working closely with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) for setting up India’s first National Design Center. He added, ‘’The design center will provide design consultancy services to companies, capacity building and training for raising quality of design education in India, help in global positioning and branding of Indian designs. The design center will promote design innovation and create design awareness, marketing and showcasing design trends via expos, exhibitions, workshops, supporting MSME’s and startups in improving competitiveness and encouraging design research’’
During the Hyderabad Design week, design challenges in collaboration with partners such as CII and Inquilabs to crowd source ideas from young minds were organized.
Mr. Jayesh Ranjan IAS, Prl. Secretary IT & Industries Department, Government of Telangana had inaugurated the event. He had mentioned that this design conference was a milestone for the city and hoped to see many more conferences and creative interactions in the future.
